Some of the popular caravan parks in Mildura

Caravan Parks In & Around Mildura

River Gardens (Gol Gol) | River Side (Buronga) | Big4 Getaway | Apex River Beach | All Seasons | The Palms | Sun City | Waterview | Calder (no longer open)

One thing that Mildura is not short of is caravan or holiday parks. During the peak seasons they tend to be pretty well booked out, so it pays to plan ahead and make your bookings early. Times like the annual Country Music Festival will see most accommodation fully booked... many people reserve their site a year in advance for that event.

Pets
A good number of the caravan parks are pet friendly, we will endeavour to advise on which ones will let you bring your dog. Please note that while many places advertise as being pet friendly, they don't allow pets inside their cabins. Only if you have a site with your own caravan, motorhome etc. I think the only one that will allow you to have your dog inside a cabin is Apex. You would need to check that one of their "dogs allowed" cabins is available before booking.

Long Term Stays
Not all of the parks take long term residents. The ones most likely to accommodate you are (in order of likelihood): Sunraysia Holiday Park, The Palms, Sun City, and possibly Apex. Sunraysia Holiday Park is probably the cheapest out of all the parks.

I have created a map below, with details of the ones that appear in our list. Individual pages for some of these will also be created as time allows. List is ranked in order of Trip Advisor reviews. The better the ranking, the higher up the page.

River Gardens, Gol Gol
(Trip Advisor, 4.5/5)

It's fairly unusual to see accommodation ranked 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor, especially one with hundreds of reviews. But that is exactly what RiverGardens has, so it should come as no surprise that this really is a fantastic holiday park.

The kids are just going to love it here. The Murray is only a short cast away for those that like fishing. Activities for the little ones include things like pedal powered karts, swimming pool, and Kangaroo jumper.

If you are bringing your boat with you on holiday, then good news... River Gardens have their own boat ramp as well as mooring close to the ramp. The river is very accessible here, so plenty of good spots to set up the deckchair and do a spot of fishing.

While you are only a short drive to the local IGA supermarket, the park has a well stocked onsite shop if you run out of milk, bread, or just want an ice cream on those hot summer days.

Definitely a very family oriented and pet friendly park, and one that I would highly recommend.

River Side, Buronga
(Trip Advisor, 4.5/5)

Not to be confused with the Riverside park on the other side of Mildura

While this does have the same Trip Advisor rating as the previous River Gardens entry, that is perhaps a little misleading. It is probably not in the same class, and that might be perhaps due to change in ownership? It is now part of the Discovery Holiday Park chain. I'm not sure if that's the reason, though I can say I have noticed a bit of a decline in the park grounds over the past couple of years.

With that being said, it's still a good place to stay, in my opinion. The negatives to this location is that sound tends to carry over water, so Fri/Sat nights might be a bit noisy with car hoons on the Victoria side of the river. And the Chaffey bridge is right next to the park, with trucks going over at all hours.

On a positive note, there is plenty of space with concrete pads on many sites, playground for the kids, 2 swimming pools, excellent kitchen, and there is a good pub that serves lovely meals only a 5 min stroll down the road. You are right on the banks of the Murray, and only a short drive over the bridge to get into Mildura.

Overall, I would be happy to stay here myself, or recommend it to friends

Apex River Beach
(Trip Advisor, 4/5)

A great holiday park tucked away in the bush on the banks of the Murray river. Only a 5min drive into the town centre, the park is on a dead end road, so you don't get through traffic.

That's not to imply that it's quiet, far from it in fact. As the park is located at the (world famous in Mildura) Apex beach, you will get a number of local people coming up to swim, walk the dog, go fishing etc. There is also a good boat ramp here, so there will be boaters coming and going.

The biggest plus for me with this park is Apex beach. Great swimming, very safe, and a massive sandy beach (biggest on the Murray). Apex beach is also home to Australias only inland surf lifesaving club. Although of course, no surf on the Murray.

The park has lots of very mature rivergums, so there is plenty of shade available. While I haven't stayed here myself, I have talked with people that have, and one thing they mentioned is that some of the sites do tend to get very dry and dusty over the hot summer months.

Overall, if you are looking for a holiday park by the river, with good swimming and boat launching right on your doorstep, then perhaps you should check out Apex.

The Palms Holiday Park
(Trip Advisor, 4/5)

If you are looking for somewhere cheap, and don't mind if the facilities are not 5 star, this might be the place for you.

This is just down the road from Sun City, and has a significant number of long term and permanent residents. Nicely placed out of town, it's not overly noisy, and is a short drive to get to town or the river.

Sun City Holiday Park
(Trip Advisor, 1.5/5)

Only 2 T.A reviews at time of writing, both rather negative.

We did actually stay here for a couple of months when we first moved to Mildura, while we were searching for a rental. I don't have particularly bad memories of the park from that time... other than a few dodgy long term residents, and a swimming pool that was often a perculiar shade of green. But the location was good for us, and the cabin was basic but comfortable. It was fine for what we needed at the time.

Since we stayed there, they have removed some of the small cabins that were used for long term residents, and replaced them with camping and caravan sites. However, it is my understanding that long term residents can be accommodated, as long as you supply your own caravan/motorhome/tent.

In recent years it has been taken over with new management, so it's quite possible they will upgrade the park in the future. It's a shame about those 2 Trip Advisor reviews, but you really need at least 50-100 before you can build up a picture of what a place is really like. I suggest you ignore those, and do your own due dilligence.

Waterview (River Road?)
(No Trip Advisor Listing)

I don't know anything about this caravan park, other than what I have read online. And even that information is very old outdated and sketchy. I will try to visit the park in the near future to find out more details.

Apparently this park is no longer in operation.
